Dorset Art Weeks is Well Under Way

DAW opened on Saturday 26th and for Karren Burkett and I it is at my village Church.

The Church Warden is so pleased to have the space used he even grabbed some of Karren's paintings and put them up in the chancel.

We worked out our working area quite quickly.  Sitting doing nothing for 16 days is not an option!

But the table

And display boards

All look pretty good and we're having some lovely comments in the books.

I've had to gird my loins and say good buy to quite a few favourites including

Rock of Ages and Relic Jurassic

New Moon

and And the Sun Shall Rise

As well and lots of bags, book covers and the cards.

It's what it's all about after all!

  1. Looks great. It is hard saying good-bye. Every time my husband sells a painting it's like he's shipping a kid off.

    1. Sometimes it’s a while before I can put a price tag on them. They tell me when they’re ready to leave home. 🙂

  2. Oh isn't that the rub? We make these things to share with others, hopefully sell, but then become emotionally attached, secretly hoping they will not sell. But in my case, the sudden angst I feel at the thought of separation when someone does decide to buy a piece is usually short-lived, so pleased I am that it is going to a new home where it will be seen and loved, more so perhaps than if it remained with me. Congrats on "moving stock" because indeed, that IS what it's all about!

    1. It’s very humbling to think someone else wants to live with something you’ve evolved from your own thoughts.

    1. I think it’s been an eye opener for quite a few villagers seeing the church in a different way. It’s a community space after all. Loved using it.

  4. It appears Blogger isn’t sending out emails to me to let me know you’ve left messages so I’m replying here. Yet another glitch.

    1. Check your settings under "posts, comments and sharing." I've been seeing this same complaint on other blogs so checked my own comments and sure enough, just this week I've stopped getting notifications. When I looked at my settings there's something new there about google+ and am wondering if that has anything to do with it. Will be fussing with it later today, and doing a better help search but from what little I did, it sounds like a glitch that hasn't been fixed yet and blogger is being mute about it.

  5. Well done on selling your work... always a bonus I think. I've got Cambridge Opwn Studios next month so will be quite happy to part with some work!

    1. Always a strange feeling selling but a lovely thought that someone else likes it enough to live with it or to give as a gift.
